Edgeworthia chrysantha Paperbush is perhaps among the most unusual but brilliant shrubs for winter colour. Throughout the spring and summer this rounded habit is smothered in simple green foliage, but after abscission of the leaves, amazing cluster of golden yellow flowers remain against the thick bare stems leaving globe shaped blotches of colour all over this plant. These remain throughout the winter and into spring, giving off a distinct fragrance.
Its known often as the paper bush for its unusual historical use in Japanese paper money since the 1800s!
The plant’s growth rate and size will vary depending on planting position & conditions. Bloom, foliage and interest may vary from photo upon delivery, dependant on season.
