Photinia Fraseri ‘Red Robin’ is known and grown for its brilliant foliage interest. Young growth is a vivid red, which contrasts with the vibrant green mature foliage. The firey new foliage grows in an upright habit, making the whole plant look as if its set ablaze. This does eventually become more subdued as the foliage matures and it can create quite the volumous plant reaching 4 meters in height and the same in width at its maximum growth.
Photinia Red Robin is also extremely versitile and can be trained on frames as well as being grown as a specimen plant.
This specimen is grown in pleached form which is a method of training trees to produce a narrow screen or hedge by tying in and interlacing flexible young shoots along a supporting framework. Use this technique to make walks, arbours, tunnels and arches.
